Would that be a Freudian slip? Irish politician says Enda Kenny was on the cover of Playboy – AUDIO

Mattie McGrath outside Irish
Government buildings
Sometimes it really does feel like “Father Ted” was a documentary, and this is especially true when comedy fumbles like this take place. The audio below could not have been better if it was written by Graham Linehan himself.

Speaking in the Dáil (Irish Parliament), independent government member Mattie McGrath got a little confused talking about Taoiseach Enda Kenny’s appearance on the front cover of Time magazine. The red-faced politician instead referred to the Irish leader’s photo on the “front page of Playboy magazine.”

He said, “To see our Taoiseach, on this front page of Playboy magazine, I wish him well, I voted him as Taoiseach, but I expected a lot different of him."

The Tipperary South/West Waterford TD soon corrected himself saying, “Sorry what magazine did I say? [Pause] Oh sorry. I meant to say … sorry, sorry … I'll correct that - I meant to say like a playboy on Time magazine.”

Poor McGrath had his slip used against him shortly after when Dun Laoghaire TD Mary Mitchell O'Connor commented on McGrath’s poorly prepared speech on the Fiscal Bill saying, “Maybe you should be getting your advice, your economic advice, from Time magazine rather than Playboy magazine.”

Here’s the audio ripped from Breakingnews.ie:

Danish TV mocks President Obama for repeating himself with many countries including Ireland – VIDEO

Barack Obama and Enda Kenny
The Danish show “Detektor” takes a look at President Barack Obama’s relationship with countries around the world. Their presenter, Thomas Buch-Andersen, stoically points out that in Barack’s view “all small countries punch above their weight” and every country he comes into contact with are close and strong allies.

ABC called the report the “Jon Stewart treatment” as they initially flatter the US President but then go on to point out that he says every small country including Ireland “punches above their weight”.

Boston Globe story misnames Irish Prime Minister as ‘Edna’ Kenny -- Not for the first time Irish leader Enda Kenny is called a female name in error

Headline appears on the Boston Globe website on Friday

The Boston Globe has has changed the sex of  Irish Prime Minister on their website by incorrectly naming him "Edna Kelly" in a headline.

Reporting on the Taoiseach’s trip to Boston, the Globe reported “Irish PM Edna Kenny visits the JFK Library”.

The Irish Prime minister was in the US for the second time in less than a week, as part of a three-day investment drive.

This is not the first time that an US publication has made an online error regarding the gender of the Irish Prime Minister.

After last March’s General Election the New York Times mistakenly reported that Enda Kenny was a female.

"Ms Kenny's centre-right Fine Gael party will now govern in a coalition with the centre-left Labour Party," read the report, published on March 9, 2010.

The Boston Globe article published online today has since been changed.
