Rare vintage Irish-made American sports car, The Shamrock, goes on display in Dublin - PHOTO

The Shamrock - an Irish made American car

At next month’s RIAC National Classic Car Show at the RDS in Dublin, a running 17-foot Shamrock car will be on display. Only a handful of the now vintage cars were ever made.

Event manager Bob Montgomery said, "Originally it was planned to produce about 10,000 cars a year from their Irish manufacturing plant. Unfortunately, the project never got that far.”

The Shamrock car was originally designed for the American market by visiting American industrialist William Curtis who wanted to start a car manufacturing business in Ireland.

The Irish-made cars were only manufactured for a short time at a factory in Castleblaney in Co Monaghan. Before the project was shut down in the early 1960s for financial difficulties, the car model was lauded for its beauty, styling and elegance.

Funny or Die's Manti Te'o sketch
Funny or Die have decided to weigh in on the Manti Te’o fiasco, in their own hilarious way and have been presenting videos of the Notre Dame linebacker. Beginning with an eHarmony ad and now a parody of the catfish trailer.

The Notre Dame linebacker hit the news earlier this week when it was revealed that his late girlfriend never existed, with Te’o claiming he was a victim of an elaborate hoax.

Now, Funny or Die has uploaded a video with Te'o (Eugene Cordero) gushing about his relationship with Lennay Kekua, reports Digital Spy.

“I hate fake people. They’re just so…it’s like they’re not there when you’re talking to them. But it’s different with Lennay,” says Eugene Cordero portraying Te’o, as the camera cuts to a two shot of him and an empty seat on the couch, according to EW.com.

Comedian posing as Irish dancer joins breakdancers on New York subway - VIDEO

Comedian Tyler Fischer doing an Irish jig on an NYC subway
Comedian Tyler Fischer doing an "Irish jig" on an NYC subway

Running into break dancers on a New York City subway is nothing for most native New Yorkers to bat an eye at. However, for the break dancers to be upstaged by a faux Irish dancer?
Comedian Tyler Fischer stole the spotlight from some break dancers on a subway recently when the music switched up to an Irish reel and Fleischer began to prance around the subway car.

“Look at him go! He’s a little leprechaun!” cheered on the break dancers who were presumably in on the stunt.

In our opinion the best part of this video isn’t Fischer’s fly Irish dance skills but rather how completely unphased the New Yorkers on the subway are about what’s taking place. Only in New York!

Check out the video below.

We too were sucked in by the packaging but no this is not a crisp (chip) flavored chocolate bar but an invention brought forth by Mr Tayto to thrill the Irish around the globe who love to eat chocolate alongside their favorite cheese and onion treats.

The man himself spoke to TheJournal.ie and explained where this confusingly packed chocolate bar’s inception had sprung from. He said “I thought that as crisps and chocolate together is such an Irish tradition, why not bring out my own bar? It’s not crisp flavored! Just nice milk chocolate so you can eat it with crisps if that floats your boat.”

'You're nearly three, you should toughen up': Gabriel and Delilah O'Donoghue become internet hit - VIDEO

Four-year-old Delilah O’Donoghue’s earnest lecture on
behavior to her two-year-old brother Gabriel
A funny exchange between two young siblings in the UK has gone viral.

After Lee O’Donoghue captured his four-year-old daughter chastising her two-year-old brother on his smartphone, he uploaded it to YouTube, thinking friends and family would find it amusing.

But Delilah’s lecture to her two-year-old brother Gabriel in which she tells him to ‘toughen up’ has become an internet sensation.

The 65-second clip shows Gabriel receive a scolding from his older sister for spitting on another child in the playground.

“I’ll keep remembering you being about two and I’ll tell my friends that too,” she tells Gabriel.

“You’re nearly three, you should toughen up a bit.”

She tells him: “When Mum and Dad said you don’t do that, you don’t do that... and you don’t spit.”

O'Donoghue, a company director from Balsall Common, West Midlands, said he was watching from a distance and thought it was comedy gold.

“I watched from afar until I realised he must be really getting it from her,’ Dad, Lee told the Daily Mail.

“In classic Delilah style she decides to give it to him straight.”

The clip was uploaded last Tuesday and has had over 1.4 million views in the past six days.

Irish spoof mocks Facebook’s earnest first-ever advertising campaign about chairs – VIDEO

Facebook ad gets punked Irish-style!
Facebook ad gets punked Irish-style!
It’s no surprise that someone poked fun at Facebook’s first ever major advertising campaign and we must admit it’s even less of surprise that the culprits were Irish.

Facebook launched the advertising campaign to celebrate reaching one billion users, but it seems obvious to us that the Wieden + Kennedy created “Chairs are like Facebook” is pretty easy to mock.

Do you see?... You share chairs, well really big chairs.

You can see why Irish funny folks Dónal Mulligan, Cian Markey, and Richie Nolan felt they needed to put together this spoof.

In their blurb they simply state, “We saw Facebook's ad, celebrating a billion users, and felt it was missing something.

“You're welcome, Mark Zuckerberg!”

For full effect it’s best to look at Facebook’s own advert before checking out the very effective spoof. Here are both:

Here’s Facebook’s real advisement:

Would that be a Freudian slip? Irish politician says Enda Kenny was on the cover of Playboy – AUDIO

Mattie McGrath outside Irish
Government buildings
Sometimes it really does feel like “Father Ted” was a documentary, and this is especially true when comedy fumbles like this take place. The audio below could not have been better if it was written by Graham Linehan himself.

Speaking in the Dáil (Irish Parliament), independent government member Mattie McGrath got a little confused talking about Taoiseach Enda Kenny’s appearance on the front cover of Time magazine. The red-faced politician instead referred to the Irish leader’s photo on the “front page of Playboy magazine.”

He said, “To see our Taoiseach, on this front page of Playboy magazine, I wish him well, I voted him as Taoiseach, but I expected a lot different of him."

The Tipperary South/West Waterford TD soon corrected himself saying, “Sorry what magazine did I say? [Pause] Oh sorry. I meant to say … sorry, sorry … I'll correct that - I meant to say like a playboy on Time magazine.”

Poor McGrath had his slip used against him shortly after when Dun Laoghaire TD Mary Mitchell O'Connor commented on McGrath’s poorly prepared speech on the Fiscal Bill saying, “Maybe you should be getting your advice, your economic advice, from Time magazine rather than Playboy magazine.”

Here’s the audio ripped from Breakingnews.ie:

Dublin US Embassy workers mock citizen who lost passport after big cocktail order

US Embassy workers show their sense of humor
US Embassy workers show their sense of humor

United States Embassy passport office workers proved they had a sense of humor this week when they teased a US national who lost their passport in Ireland, shortly after making a rather large cocktail order at Bruxelles bar in Dublin’s city center.

Although the embassy had to cancel the passport and return it to the state department the workers sent the passport owner a note along with their receipt for five Long Island iced teas from the Dublin boozer. Dublin rock radio station Phantom 105.2 tweeted the photo.

Sure isn’t that exactly what you want? To lose your passport on a night out during your holidays and then have your country’s embassy staff mock you for it!

According to AllAfrican.com the teenager was flown to Entebbe to have lunch with the former president. Although he did miss an exam at school it was worth it to meet his American namesake.

Teenage Bill told the Ugandan newspaper, the Daily Monitor “I feel good. He told me he also wanted me to be a doctor, that I should work hard and pass in my studies.”

His mother, Betty Namugosa said, “(Clinton) was very happy to see the boy. He asked him what he wants and the boy informed him he wants to become a doctor.

Irish American car mechanics in Oklahoma keep cool this summer by wearing kilts – VIDEO

http://www.kvue.com/news/Oklahoma-mechanics-wear-kilts-to-beat-the-heat-166264876.html
Rockin the man kilt
This may be the worst summer heat in the United States since 1964 but Irish American mechanics at O’Brien Automotive, in Tulsa, Oklahoma have come up with a solution. They wear kilts while they work.

The men wear them from May to October saying they’re “natural air conditioning”.

David O’Brien said he ditched pants during the summer 40 years ago, opting instead for a cooler kilt. Despite strange looks he might get he calls the kilt “the manliest man wear you can wear”.

Of course when the mechanics go under vehicles a certain amount of “kilt etiquette” is required.

1,400 people dressed as nuns in Kerry break Guinness World Record -VIDEO

Supporting Nunday!
More than 1,400 revellers dressed as nuns flocked to a village in Kerry last weekend to smash a Guinness world record.

Men and women dressed as nuns descended on Listowel on Saturday for ‘Nunday’ to help raise funds for Pieta House, a charity aimed at preventing suicide and self-harm.

The crowd broke the previous record, which stood at 250 for the largest meeting of people dressed as nuns.

Organizer Cora O’Brien told TheJournal.ie how they ran out of habits for the participants.

“We’d initially expected a couple of hundred people to take part but the whole thing just took off over the past week and we actually ran out of nuns’ habits a few days ago,” said O’Brien, who lost her son to suicide in 2007.

“The excitement in the town was immense and everyone really got into the spirit of things,” said O’Brien.

Organizers provided all registered participants with a black habit, a white coif, and a black veil for the event.

The official count took place at 6 o’clock in a football field in Listowel . Afterwards, the 1,436 nuns paraded through the town.
